It Started Out Fine
This morning, I posted my TikTok Shop affiliate review for a product I’ve seen countless other creators promote. Same product. Same seller. Even the same features we all highlight.
At first, things looked good. The likes came in. A few comments were kind — people saying it looked useful, tagging friends, asking questions. For a moment, I thought it would be a normal post day.
Then Came the Other Comments
But then they showed up.
“Fake product.”
“Don’t waste your money.”
“This is a scam.”
And it wasn’t just one.
The strange part? I checked other creators’ videos for the same item. Not a single one had comments like mine. Their comment sections were clean and encouraging.
Why me?
Doing My Part
I didn’t just sit there. I reached out to the seller and explained what was happening. The seller replied, asking me to tell my buyers to chat with them directly if they had any issues.
So I did. I replied politely to those comments, letting them know they could contact the seller for help.
But still… more negative comments trickled in.
The Lopsided Weight of Words
The truth is, I did have good comments too. People showing interest. People saying they’d buy. But the human brain works in strange ways — my eyes kept going back to the bad ones.
And it’s not that I believe them. I know the product is real. I know I’m honest about what I promote. But seeing it questioned out loud, in public, felt lousy. Like an unwanted shadow over the good.
Letting Go (As Much As I Can)
After a while, I put my phone down. Made tea. Let myself breathe.
I reminded myself that in this line of work, you can’t control every comment. Not everyone will believe you. And sometimes, it’s not even about you — it’s about whatever they’re carrying.
Still, I’m human. And yes, it still stings.
